Role on Tour: Brunch Crew
Past Roles you’ve run: Showers and Support Desk
How many Tours have you worked on? Two
Most memorable moment?
Being thanked by the cyclists for keeping the showers neat and tidy! I worked with Simphiwe who was a great friend to have on the shower team. The cyclists were always grateful for our service and having us there at all times to ensure that we had hot showers in the middle of the bush! In fact, some first-time cyclists did not think we had hot water, so they were pleasantly surprised.
Favourite campsite and why?
I love Amphitheatre Bush Camp for its beautiful landscapes. Also, it’s a great spot for everyone to enjoy 360 degree views of all the activities going on in camp while sitting on the top of the magnificent hillside.
Your favourite motto or quote?
This one applies to the Tour and our role as volunteers: It does not matter what role you are allocated to during the Tour – what matters is that you have to do your best for everyone participating – and for the children who are the ultimate beneficiaries in the end! It’s a wonderful rewarding feeling to be part of this life-changing experience.

Best thing about the Tour?
It is amazing to see the team spirit amongst all participants – from community members to Tour organisers and from support crew to cyclists themselves – everyone feels special to be part of the Nedbank Tour de Tuli family.
What excites you most about this year’s event?
The fact that every year we have new volunteers and new cyclists who come to experience the fun and the beauty of the remote wilderness areas in which the Tour traverses. I love that they are each going to have such an incredible experience. I also look forward to meeting new people, making friendships and reuniting with old friends.
